Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 1.75mm ABS Plus+ 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!

ABS Plus+ is an upgrade of ordinary ABS filament, which is one of the most commonly used filament types in 3D printing. It is 40% stronger than ordinary ABS filament and has good overall toughness.

This 1.0kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm x 0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.05mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 210 ~ 240°C (410 ~ 464°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.

The negatives of using ABS Plus+ is that it can give off a white smoke with a concentrated odor. It is best to ensure that the printing room is well ventilated when using ABS.

Additionally, it has a high moisture absorption rate. Depending on the overall humidity level of the printing environment, an opened spool can absorb enough moisture after a couple of days that high temperature printing could cause bubbles or pocks in the extrusion. It is therefore recommended to not open a spool until you are ready to print and to store any unused portion with silca gel and/or an active dehumidifier to reduce the amount of moisture it can absorb.

MP Select Black ABS+

I ordered two spools of this filament earlier in the year and I have to say that I am very impressed with it!

After initial problems with bed adhesion, I swapped out the flex plate for Borosilicate glass and 're-calibrated' the bed. A light layer of Tombow PT-M glue stick and no more 1st layer adhesion problems.

Filament layer bonding is excellent as is extrusion consistency.

Hotend: 225degC
Bed: 95degC

Not Really Crystal Clear

Although clearer than generic ABS, this filament is not "crystal clear" compared to clear or pigmented transparent PETGs. Also does not respond to acetone vapor polishing as do standard ABS grades. I suspect the higher clarity than std. ABS is achieved by reducing the rubber (butadiene) level, which might reduce its toughness. Print quality otherwise good, no warping with 1-layer raft on 85C PEI bed.

ABS

If you're looking for ABS this is great, a bit high on the melt temp but good end product. If you're buying this with your first 3D printer, don't. Go buy some PLA (here at MP, of course) and learn the ropes on that then move on to ABS if it has something you need. Turns out PLA would have been great for everything I do without the chemical smell.

Clear is crap

I bought a spool of MP clear from Amazon because it was a lot cheaper... I should have known. Like what others have said, this filament is extremely brittle, and has wild fluctuations in size, sometimes up to 1.9mm!!! I used about 10%, and I'm going to have to throw away the rest. it's not worth my time to fix the constant jams and breaks.
